British Napoleonic Infantry Tactics 1792-1815

En mi búsqueda de información sobre el ejército británico en la Guerra de la Independencia tropecé hace no mucho con este libro, tan interesante y condensado que me he leido de un tirón.

Se trata de un resumen del entrenamiento y aplicación táctica de la infantería de línea británica durante el período napoleónico, con una amplia descripción de la respuesta a las distintas situaciones tácticas encontradas en esos años, comenzando por el manual de Dundas y cómo los diversos oficiales lo aplicaban o dejaban de aplicarlo, aporta la base necesaria para entender el comportamiento de los ejércitos británicos en este periodo.

Está escrito en un tono conciso por Philip Haythornthwayte, remarcando los principales puntos y dándonos pistas para continuar nuestra búsqueda de información.

Las ilustraciones corren a cargo de Steve Noon, y solo por ellas vale la pena hojear el libro.

In my search of information about the British Army in the peninsular war I step on this book some time ago, so interesting and  condensed that I've read it on the trot.

It's a conpemdium ont he training and tactical implementation of the british line infantry along the napoleonic period, with an mample description of the answer to the different tactical situations found along those years.

Beginning with the Dundas manual and the way the different officers applied it or not, it provides the necessary basis to understand the performance of the british armies in this period.

It's been written in a concise way by Philip Haythornthwayte, remarking the main features and giving us clues in order to continue our information search.

The illustrations have been done by Steve Noon, and just for them it's worth to leaf throught the book.
