Chicoz orkoz / Ork Boyz

Este fin de semana he acabado de pintar la caja básica de Ork Boyz. Incluye 4 ork boyz monopose, a los que se les puede intercambiar la cabeza y el brazo. Con ellos, ya puedo ampliar mi banda de Kill Team…o empezar otra.

 This weekend I’ve finished to Paint the Ork Boyz basic box. It includes 4 single pose ork boyz, that can have the arm and head exchanged. With them, I can make my Kill team bigger…or start another.

Proyecto Guía Warhammer 40K boxed sets (W40KBS) / Warhammer 40K boxed sets Guide Project (W40KBS)

Tras varios años siguiendo a Warhammer 40K, me he dado cuenta de que existen múltiples referencias en caja, ediciones nuevas del juego o cajas de ejército. Conozco varias y tengo alguna, pero cuando empiezo a investigar siempre encuentro más. Es por esto que voy a dedicar toda una serie de entradas a investigar y describir cada una de las que encuentre. 
Para intentar acotar un poco el objeto de este proyecto, voy a dedicarme a listar tan solo las cajas que directamente hayan sido pensadas para el sistema Warhammer 40K. Para no eternizar esta guía no voy a entrar en otros juegos relacionados como Kill Team, Necromunda, Blackstone Fortress…
A grandes trazos mi idea es dividir las distintas cajas en 4 apartados:

Cajas de inicio: Traen el reglamento, dos ejércitos, dados, reglas, etc. Normalmente salen cuando se lanza una nueva edición, y están disponibles a lo largo de la vida de la misma.

Cajas de campaña: Traen un reglamento simplificado, reglamentos de campaña y dos fuerzas pequeñas. Suelen salir una o varias cada año, y están unos meses a la venta.

Battleforce: Son ejércitos o destacamentos grandes completos. Suelen salir en navidades, y están a la venta mientras duran las existencias.

Start Collecting!: Son cajas pensadas para tener un destacamento. Están continuamente a la venta y suelen actualizarse cada varios años, dependiendo de la renovación de miniaturas de una gama.

Patrol: Eran un tipo de caja que incluía una unidad y un vehículo. 

Desde aquí hago un llamamiento a todos los lectores que puedan echarme una mano proporcionándome información para completar esta guía.


After some years following Warhammer 40K, I’ve noticed that there are a lot of boxed references, new editions of the game or army boxes. I know a few and have some, but when I start to look for I ever find more. That’s why I’m going to start a series of posts to investigate and describe each one that I find.
To try to put limits to this project, I’m going to make just the boxes that have been thought for the Warhammer 40K system. As not to go on forever in this guide I won’t go into another related games like Kill Team, Necromunda, Blackstone Fortress…
In broad strokes my idea is to divide all the different boxes in 4 parts:

Starting boxes: They have the full ruleset, two forces, dice, rules, etc. Usually they are released when there is a new edition, and they can be purchased as long as the edition is in the market.

Campaign boxes: they have a resumed ruleset, campaign rules and two small forces. They tend to be released some at a year, and they’re for sale just some months.

Battleforce: They’re either armies of full detachments. They tend to be released in Christmas and they’re sold while stocks last.

Start Collecting!: They’re boxes thought to have a detachment. They’re continuously been sold and they tend to be updated every few years, depending in the renovation of the miniatures.

Patrol: They were a kind of box that included one unit and a vehicle.

From here I ask all the readers that could lend me a leg with information to complete this guide.

Diario de pintura / Painting Journal

Hace un tiempo que me dedico a la pintura de miniaturas, y en todo este tiempo he tenido tiempo de pintar algunos ejércitos. Mi disponibilidad de tiempo nunca ha sido excesiva, así que he tenido que pintarlo a lo largo de muchos meses, mezclando además diversos proyectos de pintura. Esto hizo que me planteara buscar un método para mantener una similitud entre las miniaturas pintadas.

Al principio empleaba el método de copia directa: tomaba una figura como modelo e intentaba que todas las miniaturas fueran similares a esta. Esto funcionaba bien si no habías empleado muchos colores y lo hacías regularmente, pero si no podías encontrarte pensando en qué tono de color habías empleado.

I’ve been painting miniatures for some time now, and in all of this time I’ve had to paint some armies. My free time has never been too much, so that I’ve had to paint them throughout some months, mixing also different painting projects. That made me think about looking for a method to make them similar. 
In the beginning I used the direct copy method: I took a miniature as a model and tried to make all the miniatures similar to it. That worked if you hadn’t painted the first miniature with too many colors and you painted regularly, but if not you could find yourself wondering what shade had you used.

 Después, y tras consultar revistas y páginas web, empecé a apuntarme los colores que empleaba para cada elemento: ropa, piel, armas… esto era más eficaz y me permitía sistematizar el proceso, pero tenía que acordarme de apuntar todos los pasos. 


Later, and after consulting magazines and web pages, I started to write down the colors that I used in every element: clothes, skin, weapons… that was more efficient and allowed me to systematize the process, but I had to remember to document each step.

Finalmente, estoy empleando actualmente una mezcla de ambos métodos: tomo una miniatura pintada y coloco al lado los colores que he empleado en algún elemento, en la secuencia usada.
 

Finally, I’m using a mix of both methods: I take a painted miniature and make a row with the colors that I’ve used in some element, in the correct order.

Creo que todo el mundo debe desarrollar su propio método, y que yo todavía estoy evolucionando y pensando sobre el mejor método para reproducir mis esquemas de pinturas.
Espero que esta reflexión os haya podido ayudar a mejorar vuestra técnica de pintura.

I think that everyone has to develop his own method, and I’m still evolving and thinking about the best way to reproduce my painting schemes. I hope that this consideration can have helped you to improve your painting skills.

Leman Russ Vanquisher

En las últimas dos semanas he estado pintando este tanque Leman Russ Vanquisher para mi proyecto de ejército del Astra Militarum. Armado con un cañón Vanquisher, dos cañones de multifusión y un cañón láser proporcionará un muy necesario apoyo pesado a mis fuerzas.  

In the last two weks I've been painting this Leman Russ Vanquisher tank for my Astra Militarum Army. Armed with a Vanquisher main gun, two multi-melta guns and a lasgun it Will provide the much needed heavy firepower for my forces.

Desperta Ferro / Cuadernos de historia militar

La editorial Desperta Ferro acaba de publicar el primer número de su nueva serie "Cuadernos de Historia militar" . Con estos quiere publicar toda una serie de monográficos sobre cuerpos militares basados en los nuevos enfoques de la historiografía.
He podido revisar el primero, "Cien años de la Legión, 1920-2020"y, aunque a primera vista podría parecer una nueva versión de los famosos Men-At Arms de la editorial inglesa Osprey, sus 144 páginas y densidad de contenido los sitúan por encima de estos. Otra ventaja, desde el punto de vista de información, es que las fotografías, mapas, dibujos y esquemas no ahogan el texto.
Ahora solo queda esperar a próximo "Soldados de los Tercios".


The Desperta Ferro Publisher has just released the first issue of its new series "Cuadernos de Historia militar" . The idea is to publish a series of monographies about military corps based on the new aprroach of historiography.
I've been able to check the first one, "Cien años de la Legión, 1920-2020" and, while at first sight it could seem t be a new versión of the Osprey series Men-At-Arms, it's 144 pages and density of contents puts these new books above them. Another advantage from the importaion poit of view is that the photographs, maps, drawings and diagrams don't overwhelm the text.
Now we only have to wait for the next one "Soldados de los tercios".

Destacamento de patrulla del Astra Militarum / Astra militarum Patrol Detachment

Bueno, pues ya tengo acabadas las tres primeras escuadras de Astra Militarum: dos de infantería y una de mando, además de un oficial de compañía. Con esto ya puedo jugar a Kill Team, y tengo la base de un destacamento de Patrulla.

Well, I´ve already got finished the first three Astra militarum squads: two infantry squad and another command squad, plus a company officer. With these I can play Kill Team and I’ve got the base of a Patrol Detachment.
