Jornadas DAU 2019

El pasado fin de semana, y como ya va siendo habitual cada año, se celebraron las jornadas DAU en el recinto de Fabra i Coats de Barcelona. Entre las muchas actividades lúdicas se celebró el evento "DAU Històric", en el que había una representación de clubes demostrando todo tipo de wargames, desde aéreos a escaramuzas, pasando por navales o batallas acorazadas.

Uno de estos wargames fue Lion Rampant, mostrado por el Club RECS de Gavà, y que detallaré en la siguiente entrada.

Last weekend, as usual in the last years, the DAU games show was held in the Fabra i Coats facility, in Barcelona. Among the many gaming activities the "Dau Històric" event was held, in which there were a big representation of clubs showing all kind of wargames, from aerial to skirmish, including naval or tank battles.

One of these wargames was Lion Rampant, that was showed by the Club RECS of Gavà and that I'll explain in detail in the next post.

Ejército Astra Militarum / Astra Militarum Army

Este fin de semana he estado pintado unos cuantos soldados del Astra Militarum (la buena y vieja Guardia Imperial). Mi idea es realizar un pintado rápido de un ejército de 1000 puntos antes del próximo verano. ¿Podré alcanzar este logro? Por ahora ya llevo 12...

Además, para mejorar las fotos he probado a hacerlas con varios contenedores y como fondo uno de los tableros de Warhammer Conquest. Espero poco a poco ir mejorando las imágenes.

This weekend I’ve been painting a few soldiers of the Astra Militarum (the good and old Imperial Guard). My idea is to fast paint a 1000 points army before next summer. Will I be able to achieve this goal? By now I've already got 12...

Also, in order to improve the photographs I’ve tried to make them with some containers and a Warhammer Conquest game mat. I hope to improve the photographs step by step.

Segundo escenario Lion Rampant / Lion Rampant second scenario

El pasado domingo estuvimos ensayando el segundo escenario de Lion Rampant para las DAU 2019. El ejército obispal es emboscado por una segunda banda que intentarán acabar el trabajo del primero.

El resultado fue prometedor, y ya estamos dispuestos para las jornadas.

Last Sunday we made an essay of the second Lion Rampant scenario for the DAU 2019. The Bishop's army is ambushed by a second warband that Will try to finish the work of the first. 

The result was promising, and we're already prepared for the games day.

Blackstone Fortress beastmen

Ya he acabado el primero de mis hombres bestia de Blackstone Fortress. Y el primer hombre bestia que pinto. Para pintar la piel he seguido la APP de Games Workshop, y el resultado ha sido bastante correcto. Ahora a seguir practicando.

I’ve already finished the first of the Blackstone Fortress beastmen. This has curiously been the first beastman that I’ve ever painted. In order to paint the skin I’ve followed the Games Workshop APP, and the result has been quite correct. Now it’s time to continue practicing.

Retomando las miniaturas de Blackstone Fortress, he acabado la primera unidad de Guardia Imperial traidora. Si los rumores que corren por internet son correctos, el año que viene la sacarán como facción...

Aunque por ahora los puedo usar para mi Kill Team del Caos.

 

Re-taking the Blackstone Fortress miniatures, I've finished the first unit of traitor Imperial Guard. If the Internet rumours are correct, next year we'll see this new faction… But for now I can use them for my Chaos Kill Team.

 

 

 

Pintando campesinos / Painting peasants

Ya he acabado de pintar la referencia AO 36 de Perry Miniatures, a punto para el escenario de Lion Rampant en las jornadas DAU. Bueno, solo me falta basearlas…

I've already finished the AO 36 reference of Perry Miniatures, prepared with time for the Lion Rampant game of the DAU games day. Well, I only have to base them now… 

DAU 2019

Este próximo mes de Noviembre, los días 23 y 24, se celebrará el 8é Festival de Joc DAU en el recinto de Fabra i Coats de Barcelona. Esta es una gran ocasión para conocer a todos los clubs de Cataluña.

Como ya va siendo habitual, se presentarán juegos, habrá demostraciones y, presumiblemente, se podrán comprar miniaturas y juegos. 

On next November, the days 23 and 24, the 8é Festival de Joc DAU Will be held in the Fabra and Coats place in Barcelona. This is a great occasion to know all the clubs in Cataluña.

As it's usual, games Will be shown, there Will be demos and, presumably, games and miniatures could be bought.

Escenario de Lion Rampant / A Lion Rampant scenario

Con vistas en las jornadas DAU, que se celebrarán en Barcelona el 23 y 24 de Noviembre, estamos preparando un escenario empleando el reglamento Lion Rampant. Para esto hemos pintado dos ejércitos y la fabricado escenografía necesaria.

La idea original era que este escenario enfrente a dos fuerzas, una de ellas protegiendo a un obispo y a un grupo de clérigos que están en un monasterio, y la otra intentando capturar al obispo. Las fuerzas entrarán escalonadamente en el campo de batalla, de forma que no se podrá conocer la disposición de las fuerzas adversarias.

Como no disponíamos de dos fuerzas grandes del mismo periodo, hemos optado por emplear dos fuerzas homogéneas que no sean demasiado discordantes. La primera es un ejército de guerra de los 100 años de Perry miniatures, originalmente una fuerza del último tercio del S XIV. Está compuesta por caballeros desmontados, serjeants, arqueros y ballesteros. La segunda es un ejército sajón del S. X de Gripping Beast miniatures, formada por Thengs y ceorls.

La prueba del escenario la hemos hecho en el Club RECS de Gavà, y nos ha permitido comprobar las dinámicas del escenario antes de presentarlo en las jornadas.

Ahora, solo hay que acabar de preparar el otro…

Looking at the Jornadas DAU, that will be held in Barcelona in November 23rd and 24th, we’ve been preparing a scenario using the Lion Rampant ruleset. In order to do so we’ve painted two armies and manufactured the necessary staging.

The original idea was that this scenario confronted two forces, one protecting a Bishop and a group of clerics in a monastery, and the other trying to capture the Bishop. The forces will enter the battlefield gradually, so that the disposition of the enemy forces can’t be guessed.

As we didn’t have two big forces of the same period, we’ve opted to use two homogenous forces that aren’t too discordant. The first is a Hundred years war army of Perry miniatures, originally a force of the last quarter of XIVth century. It’s made of dismounted knights, mounted and dismounted serjeants, bowmen and crossbowmen. The second is a Xth century saxon army from Gripping Beast miniatures, made of Thegns and ceorls.

We’ve made the testing of the scenario in the Club RECS of Gavà, what have allowed us to check the dynamics of the scenario before showing in the de Jornadas.

Now we only have to prepare the other one…

 

Death Guard kill Team

Aprovechando las miniaturas del nº 2 del coleccionable Warhammer Conquest, he pintado mis tres primeras figuras de la Guardia de la Muerte. He empleado una versión simplificada de mi técnica de pintura, usando una imprimación verde en lugar de mi habitual negra, y el resultado ha sido una miniatura más brillante.

También he aprovechado para hacer pruebas pintando un contenedor del Munitorum para escenografía, también del mismo colecionable. El resultado es satisfactorio, pero hay que mejorar el acabado.

Using the miniatures from the 2nd issue of the Warhammer Conquest collection, I've painted my first three miniatures of the Death Guard. I've used a simplified version of my painting technique, using a Green base instead of my usual black, and the result has been a brighter miniature.

I've also made tests painting a Munitorum container to be used as scenography, also from the same collectible. The result is satisfactory, but the finishing must be improved.

Lion rampant introduction / Introducción a Lion Rampant

El pasado 23 de Junio llevamos a cabo una partida introductoria a Lion Rampant en el Club RECS de Gavà. Lo que empezó siendo una partida entre dos amigos, acabó siendo un escenario de más de 40 AP por bando con 6 jugadores y 1 árbitro, de los cuales 4 nunca habían jugado al reglamento.

Originalmente iba a jugar con mi ejército de Guerra de los Cien Años, pero la gran asistencia me obligó a llevar tanto este ejército al completo como mi nuevo ejército sajón de Edad Oscura, que servía como proxy.

Como era la primera partida que jugábamos decidimos emplear el escenario A (Bloodbath), que es el más sencillo. Desplegamos en una mesa de 1,60x1,20 aproximadamente, con colinas, bosques y un pueblo en medio.

La batalla fue muy disputada, dándose el caso de unidades que fueron destruidas sin apenas actuar y otras que se cubrieron de gloria abriendo paso a sus camaradas. Surgieron algunas dudas razonables del reglamento con respecto al terreno que estudiaremos para próximas partidas. También estuvimos probando el esquema de resolución de acciones que desarrollé en partidas anteriores, y que colgaré en el futuro en este blog.

En general, la sensación entre los participantes fue buena, y probablemente el pool de jugadores de Lion Rampant aumente en un próximo futuro.

On June 23rd we held an introductory game to Lion Rampant at the RECS Club in Gava. What began as a game between two friends ended up being a scenario of more than 40 AP per side with 6 players and 1 referee, of whom 4 had never played the rules before.

I was originally going to play with my Hundred Years' War Army, but the big assistance forced me to lead both this entire army and my new Saxon Dark Age army, which served as a proxy.

As it was the first game we played we decided to use scenario A (Bloodbath), which is the simplest. We deployed on a table of approximately 1,60x1.20, with hills, forests and a village in the middle.

The battle was hotly contested, with units being destroyed with little action and others covering themselves with glory, making way for their comrades. Some reasonable doubts arose from the regulation regarding the terrain that we will study for future departures. We also tested the action resolution scheme that I developed in previous headings, and that I’ll hang in this blog in the future.

Overall, the feeling among the participants was good, and the Lion Rampant player pool is likely to increase in the near future.

Inauguración del nuevo local de RECS / New RECS local inaguration

Este pasado Domingo inauguramos el nuevo local que el Ajuntament de Gavà ha cedido al Club RECS. Está situado en una masia, un tipo tradicional de casa de campo catalana, situada entre los términos municipales de Gavà y Viladecans.

Contamos con un espacio para almacenar la escenografía y nos ceden una sala para jugar. ¡Pero que sala! En una primera planta, con luz solar y vistas a un parque…es una gozada.

Y para acabar de rematarlo, contamos con un bar. ¡En el que hacen parrilladas! ¿Se puede pedir algo mejor? Muchas gracias Ajuntament de Gavà. ¡Sois increíbles!

Last Sunday we inagurated the new local that the new Local that the Gavà city council has ceded to the Cub RECS of Gavà. I’t located in a masia, a traditional catalán country house, located between the cities of Gavà and Viladecans.

We’ve got a room to store our material and we can use a room top lay. But what a room! It’s a first floor, with natural light and sights to a park… it’s a delight.

And to cap it all, we’ve got a bar. And they make barbecues! Can we ask for something better. Thanks a lot, City council of Gavà! You’re incredible.
