Segundo escenario Lion Rampant / Lion Rampant second scenario

El pasado domingo estuvimos ensayando el segundo escenario de Lion Rampant para las DAU 2019. El ejército obispal es emboscado por una segunda banda que intentarán acabar el trabajo del primero.

El resultado fue prometedor, y ya estamos dispuestos para las jornadas.

Last Sunday we made an essay of the second Lion Rampant scenario for the DAU 2019. The Bishop's army is ambushed by a second warband that Will try to finish the work of the first. 

The result was promising, and we're already prepared for the games day.

Escenario de Lion Rampant / A Lion Rampant scenario

Con vistas en las jornadas DAU, que se celebrarán en Barcelona el 23 y 24 de Noviembre, estamos preparando un escenario empleando el reglamento Lion Rampant. Para esto hemos pintado dos ejércitos y la fabricado escenografía necesaria.

La idea original era que este escenario enfrente a dos fuerzas, una de ellas protegiendo a un obispo y a un grupo de clérigos que están en un monasterio, y la otra intentando capturar al obispo. Las fuerzas entrarán escalonadamente en el campo de batalla, de forma que no se podrá conocer la disposición de las fuerzas adversarias.

Como no disponíamos de dos fuerzas grandes del mismo periodo, hemos optado por emplear dos fuerzas homogéneas que no sean demasiado discordantes. La primera es un ejército de guerra de los 100 años de Perry miniatures, originalmente una fuerza del último tercio del S XIV. Está compuesta por caballeros desmontados, serjeants, arqueros y ballesteros. La segunda es un ejército sajón del S. X de Gripping Beast miniatures, formada por Thengs y ceorls.

La prueba del escenario la hemos hecho en el Club RECS de Gavà, y nos ha permitido comprobar las dinámicas del escenario antes de presentarlo en las jornadas.

Ahora, solo hay que acabar de preparar el otro…

Looking at the Jornadas DAU, that will be held in Barcelona in November 23rd and 24th, we’ve been preparing a scenario using the Lion Rampant ruleset. In order to do so we’ve painted two armies and manufactured the necessary staging.

The original idea was that this scenario confronted two forces, one protecting a Bishop and a group of clerics in a monastery, and the other trying to capture the Bishop. The forces will enter the battlefield gradually, so that the disposition of the enemy forces can’t be guessed.

As we didn’t have two big forces of the same period, we’ve opted to use two homogenous forces that aren’t too discordant. The first is a Hundred years war army of Perry miniatures, originally a force of the last quarter of XIVth century. It’s made of dismounted knights, mounted and dismounted serjeants, bowmen and crossbowmen. The second is a Xth century saxon army from Gripping Beast miniatures, made of Thegns and ceorls.

We’ve made the testing of the scenario in the Club RECS of Gavà, what have allowed us to check the dynamics of the scenario before showing in the de Jornadas.

Now we only have to prepare the other one…

 

Lion rampant introduction / Introducción a Lion Rampant

El pasado 23 de Junio llevamos a cabo una partida introductoria a Lion Rampant en el Club RECS de Gavà. Lo que empezó siendo una partida entre dos amigos, acabó siendo un escenario de más de 40 AP por bando con 6 jugadores y 1 árbitro, de los cuales 4 nunca habían jugado al reglamento.

Originalmente iba a jugar con mi ejército de Guerra de los Cien Años, pero la gran asistencia me obligó a llevar tanto este ejército al completo como mi nuevo ejército sajón de Edad Oscura, que servía como proxy.

Como era la primera partida que jugábamos decidimos emplear el escenario A (Bloodbath), que es el más sencillo. Desplegamos en una mesa de 1,60x1,20 aproximadamente, con colinas, bosques y un pueblo en medio.

La batalla fue muy disputada, dándose el caso de unidades que fueron destruidas sin apenas actuar y otras que se cubrieron de gloria abriendo paso a sus camaradas. Surgieron algunas dudas razonables del reglamento con respecto al terreno que estudiaremos para próximas partidas. También estuvimos probando el esquema de resolución de acciones que desarrollé en partidas anteriores, y que colgaré en el futuro en este blog.

En general, la sensación entre los participantes fue buena, y probablemente el pool de jugadores de Lion Rampant aumente en un próximo futuro.

On June 23rd we held an introductory game to Lion Rampant at the RECS Club in Gava. What began as a game between two friends ended up being a scenario of more than 40 AP per side with 6 players and 1 referee, of whom 4 had never played the rules before.

I was originally going to play with my Hundred Years' War Army, but the big assistance forced me to lead both this entire army and my new Saxon Dark Age army, which served as a proxy.

As it was the first game we played we decided to use scenario A (Bloodbath), which is the simplest. We deployed on a table of approximately 1,60x1.20, with hills, forests and a village in the middle.

The battle was hotly contested, with units being destroyed with little action and others covering themselves with glory, making way for their comrades. Some reasonable doubts arose from the regulation regarding the terrain that we will study for future departures. We also tested the action resolution scheme that I developed in previous headings, and that I’ll hang in this blog in the future.

Overall, the feeling among the participants was good, and the Lion Rampant player pool is likely to increase in the near future.

Infantería Dark Age / Dark Age infantry

En estos momentos estoy pintando la referencia GBP03 Dark Age Warriors de Gripping Beast. Como se puede ver en su web consiste en 40 miniaturas multicomponente, que pueden ensamblarse como lanceros, jabalineros u honderos, además de varias con hacha, espada y cuerno para dar variedad.

Mi idea es preparar una base de miniaturas para poder jugar a diversos juegos, tales como SAGA o Lion Rampant… Y si tengo tiempo y ganas, preparar bases múltiples desmontables para Art de la Guerre o DBMM. Tiempo al tiempo.

In this very moment I’m painting the reference GBP03 Dark Age Warriors from Gripping Beast. As can be seen in their web it consists in 40 multicomponent miniatures, that can be assembled either as spearmen, javelinmen or slingers, as well as some with axe, sword and horn to include variety.

My idea is to prepare a base of miniatures in order to play some different games, as SAGA or Lion Rampant…and if I’ve got time and feel like, prepare multiple detachable bases for Art de la Guerre or DBMM. Time will tell.
