Ejército para WOTR

En estos últimos meses he estado completando este ejército para jugar a DMMM o L'Art de la Guerre. Hasta el momento no me había metido con ningún ejército tardomedieval, y menos ya renacentista, así que era todo un reto: heráldica, tropas de élite y múltiples tipos de miniaturas.

Tras echar un vistazo a las listas, puede comprobar dos cosas:

1. Las listas son un lío, con múltiples opciones excluyentes entre las distintas facciones.

2. De cualquier manera, debía pintar montones de arqueros.

Así que me puse manos a la obra. El grueso de las  figuras es de Peter Pig menos el bagaje que es de Baueda y los kerns, que son de Corvus Belli.

 
In the last months I've been finishing this army to either play DBMM or L'Art de la Guerre. Until now I hadn't started any late medieval army, and even less a renaissance one, so that this was a challenge: heraldry, elite troops and many different kinds of troops.
After checking the army lists I noticed two topics:

1. The lists are a mess, with multiple excludent options from different factions.
2. Anyway, I had to paint a lot of archers.

Then I started to work and. The big part of the minis are Peter Pig, but the baggage which is from Baueda and the kerns, thar are from corvus Belli.
 

Los generales / The generals

Dos elementos de caballeros montados:
Two bases of mounted knights.

 

 

Al general aliado obligatorio lo he representado desmontado, por si le entran tentaciones que no corra mucho.
The ally general is on foot, jsut in case that he is tempted he can't run much.

  

 

Los caballeros / the knights.

En DBMM no es que sean ni muy potentes ni muy numerosos, pero los puedo desmontar como Bd(S) o usarlos para potenciar los Bd(O). En L'Art de la Guerre son verdaderas máquinas de picar carne.
In BMM they are neither strong nor numerous, but can be dismounted as Bd(S) or used to uograde the Bd(O). In L'Art de la Guerre they're true meat mincers.
 

 

 

 

 

Los arqueros / the archers

De diferentes calidades, según el reglamento y la lista, son el núcleo de este ejército. Nunca hay bastantes
Different qualities, according to the ruleset and the list, they're the nucleus of this army. You can't have enough of them.

 

 

La infantería pesada / The heavy infantry

Infantería con alabardas y algo de armadura, puede servir para cubrir huecos tras los arqueros o amasarla para hacer una línea de combate:
Infantry with bills and some armour, they can be used to cover gaps behind the archers or amass them to make a battle line.

 

Los ballesteros / The crossbowmen

Mercenarios regulares que permiten desplegarlos y moverlos con cierta facilidad. Un complemento útil para los arqueros.
Regular mercenaries that can be deployed and moved easily. An useful complement to the archers.

Los arcabuceros / The shooters

Pequeños pero matones, permiten dominar el terreno difícil:
Small but strong, they help to control the difficult going.
 

 

 

Los irlandeses / the irish

¡Qué se puede decir de ellos! Una masa de tropas ligeras para tapar huecos, formar segundas líneas o dominar el terreno difícil. Imprescindibles para aumentar el volumen de un ejército tan especializado como este. Cuenta tanto con infantería ligera como hostigadores.
What can be said of them! A mass of light troops to cover gaps, forms second lines or control the difficult going. Essential to enlarge the size of the army in such a specialized army as this. You can use them either as light infantry or as skirmishers.
 

 

La artillería / The artillery

Un parque lo suficientemente importante como para hacer que cualquiera se lo piense antes de asaltar frontalmente mis líneas:
A train enough strong to make anyone think twice before assaulting frontally my lines.

El Bagaje / The baggage

 

Y finalmente, pero no menos necesario. Tiendas donde los generales puedan descansar de las cargas que conlleva el mando (y echarse alguna siestecita, claro). Al general aliado le ha tocado la choza, por eso, por aliado.
And finally, but not unessential. Tents where the generals can rest from the command charges (and making some siesta, of course). The Ally general has a hut, as deserves an ally.

En los próximos meses me dedicaré a ampliarlo, lo que me permita jugar con varias opciones. Además, con un poco de buena fe se puede hacer pasar por otros ejércitos occidentales de finales del s. XV. Solo me faltarían...
In the next months I'll improve the army to allow me to play with even more options. Also, with some good faith I'll make it pass as other western armies of the late XVth century. I only need...

Baseando árboles / basing trees

Hasta el momento he dedicado mis esfuerzos a pintar elementos de miniaturas para jugar, dejando de lado tanto la escenografía como los marcadores o bagajes de los distintos ejércitos.

Aprovechando que en estos meses tengo poco tiempo para pintar, me he decidido a preparar escenografía, marcadores y acabar proyectos pendientes antes de comenzar a prepara ejércitos nuevos.

Hace unas semanas publiqué una entrada sobre la fabricación de una estacada, empleable en múltiples juegos.

Aprovecho ahora para describir como basear árboles comerciales, para conjuntarlos con los elementos pintados y permitir transportarlos y emplearlos con facilidad.

Until this moment I've dedicated all my efforts to paint miniature elements, keeping aside scenery elements, counters or baggages from the different armies.
Taking advantage of theis months in which I have little time to paint, I've decided to prepare scene., markers and finish pending projects before starting to prepare new armies.
Some weeks ago I published an entry on manufacturing stakes, useable in multiple games.
I take advantege now to describe how to base commercial trees, to make them similar to the already paintes elements and allow them to be transported and used easily.
  

En primer lugar, cortamos una porción de imán plástico de dimensiones mayores que la copa del árbol. Esto nos dará estabilidad y nos permitirá transportarlo en una plancha metálica:
First of all, we cut a piece of plastic magnet of greater size that the tree top. This will give us stability and allow us the transport in a metallic sheet:

Después tomamos unas cucharillas de café de plástico y las cortamos a una medida adecuada. Este material nos da rigidez con poca altura, a la vez que es muy ligero:
Then we take some coffee sticks and cut them at a suitable size. This material will give us rigitity, while it's quite light:
 

Pegamos los trozos de cucharilla con cianocrilato de esta forma:
We glue the coffee sticks with cyanocrylate like this:

Entonces pegamos el árbol con cianocrilato encima:

Y pintamos la base con "Sombra tostada" de Vallejo:

Una vez seca, aplicamos cola blanca disuelta en agua y lo sumergimos en césped de modelismo:

Empezando con L'Art de la Guerre / Getting started with L'Art de la Guerre

La semana pasada hicimos un encuentro introductorio al reglamento L’Art de la Guerre en el club RECS de Gavà. Como todos ya habíamos jugado alguna partida inicial, la idea era explorar el reglamento y aprender su dinámica.

Con este objetivo en mente preparamos listas de ejércitos coetáneas y nos sumergimos en el juego.

Last week we made an introductory encounter to the L’Art de la Guerre ruleset in the RECS club from Gavà. As everyone had already played at least some game, the idea was to explore the reluset and learn the dynamics.

With this objective in our mind we prepared contemporary army lists and got submerged into the game.

 

Este es un ejército romano de los triunviros desplegado. Como se puede ver, pequeño y compacto. la calidad de las fotos no es muy buena, ya que estaban tomadas con móviles.

This is a Triumvirs roman army in battle order. As you can see, small and compact. The quality of the photographs is not quite good, as they were taken with movil telephones.

A pesar de no conocer a fondo las reglas, en dos horas y media habíamos acabado una partida de 200 puntos. Creo que es un reglamento ágil y sencillo, en el que la jugabilidad no está reñida con el trasfondo histórico. A pesar de que habría que pulir algunos aspectos, tiene un gran futuro en nuestra comunidad de jugadores.

In spite of now knowing the rules by heart, in two and a half hours we had finished a 200 points game. I think that  it’s a fast and easy ruleset, in which the playability isn’t at odds with the historical background. Even having to polish some aspects, it has a great future in our players community.

Introducción a Regimental Fire and Fury / Introduction to Regimental Fire and Fury

El pasado viernes estuvimos realizando una demo de Regimental Fire and Fury en la tienda Infernal Forge, de Barcelona. La idea era introducir a varios jugadores en este apasionante reglamento.

Last Friday we developed a demonstration game of Regimental Fire and Fury in the Infernal Forge shop, in Barcelona. The idea is to introduce some gamers to this thrilling ruleset.

 

 

Toni preparó un pequeño escenario en el año 1862, en el teatro oriental. Una fuerte división de la Unión debía tomar una granja defendida por dos brigadas de sudistas más algo de milicia

Toni prepared a small scenario in the year 1862, Eastern theatre. A Union strong but green division had to take a farm defended by two brigades of veteran southerners plus some militia.

Tras un largo y sangriento combate, llegamos a un empate. Todos los jugadores quedaron encantados y con ganas de repetir.

After a long and bloody fight there was a draw. All the gamers were quite pleased and wishing to repeat.

Fabricando una caja de luz / manufacturing a light box

Habiendo realizado varios intentos más o menos exitosos de fotografiar mis miniaturas, le estuve enseñando el resultado a mi amigo y compañero Cristian, aficionado a la fotografía.

Tras contemplarlas con cara de espanto me hizo varias indicaciones sobre los elementos básicos de la fotografía y me recomendó el uso de una Caja de Luz, ya fuera de compra o fabricada. Esta es una caja que permite aplicar la iluminación a un objeto eliminando reflejos y mejorando la calidad de la fotografía. 

Después de un tiempo meditándolo, me he decidido a lanzarme a la fabricación de una por mi mismo. ¡Quién dijo miedo!

Having made some unsuccessful trials to photograph my miniatrues, I showed the results to my friend and colleague Cristian, a photograph fan.

After looking at them with a distraughted face he pointed me some basic skills about photography, and he recommended to use a light box, either bought or self made. This is a box that allows you to apply the lights to an object removing the shines and improving the quality of the photography.

Having passed some time meditating the matter, I've decided to throw me to manufacture one myself. Who is afraid!

Probando nuevo reglamento / Playtesting new Rules

El pasado domingo estuvimos en el club Rubicón de L'Hospitalet realizando el playtesting del reglamento H&G, con objeto de emplearlo para una campaña peninsular en el verano-invierno de 1808. Es un reglamento pequeño y compacto, destinado a resolver combates de la campaña.

Empleamos sendos ejércitos de 500 puntos en un escenario tipo, lo que viene a ser 7 batallones, tres baterías y un regimiento de infantería para los franceses y una cantidad similar pero con 3 batallones de milicias adicionales para los españoles.

Last Sunday we playtested the H&G rules in the Rubicon club of L'Hospitalet, in order to use it for a Peninsular campaign in the 1808 summer-winter. It's a small and compact ruleset, destined to solve the campaign combats.

We used two armies, 500 points each in a standard scenario, what means 7 infantry battalions, three batteries and a cavalry regiment for the french and similar numbers plus three conscript battalions for the spanish.
